ADEKA Roofing
ADEKA Roofing ADEKA is a pre-formed VM ZINC® shingle
product that allows rapid installation. The tiles are installed with
a 2” overlap. Polystyrene is bonded to the underside of the
shingles, providing increased sound insulation from rain and hail
and making it possible to walk on the roof. It can also be used as a
wall element. ADEKA elements are installed quickly and easily,
starting from the bottom and working up, using three screws in
pre-drilled rimmed holes. The bottom row is held in place with a
locking key fitted to adjacent ADEKA elements.
With ADEKA, designers can create a striking tile effect utilizing
the natural grey color of zinc without having to resort to artificially
colored metals. It is available in both surface aspects,
QUARTZ ZINC® and ANTHRA ZINC®. ADEKA has UL 1897 rating.
Batten Seam Roofing
This is a very traditional longitudinal assembly system for a zinc roof. In fact it is probably the oldest technique. The batten seam creates an expression of strong, conspicuous contours, often sought after by architects for its shadow effects and urban character.
A timber batten, 1 ½” (38mm) or 2” (51mm) in height and trapezoidal or rectangular in shape, is fixed with nails or screws onto the timber decking. The zinc sheets and long strips are held in place by a zinc batten clip supporting the peripheral upsatnds. The capping strips, in lengths of 39 1/2” (1000mm) are placed into position by overlapping. They are fixed at the top by a nailing clip which secures the upper end of the panel while at the same time allowing it to expand freely.
Standing Seam Roofing
A popular traditional technique generally utilizes a double folded seam that can be
machine or hand produced. It reflects the individual architect’s concerns for line & shadow
and produces designs from historical to contemporary. The low height of the seams, 1” and
11/2” , contributes to the lightness and regularity of the roofing in its architectural function.
The standing seam roof offers designers possibilities for creating a myriad of exciting roof forms.Double Lock Standing Seam (DLSS) is one of the most traditional ways of installing a metal roof and has not lost any of its popularity today. A double lock standing seam roof might be more sophisticated than what you are used to in a typical snap lock and nail strip roof used with other metals. It certainly requires more manual skills than simple snap and nail systems, however we believe the end result very much justifies the means.
A well installed DLSS roof in VM ZINC® or NORDIC® Copper will easily last for 100 years. This is one reason why we do not encourage caulking and riveting which would reduce the life span of the roof to the life span of a rivet or caulking. Most penetrations can be folded in and so can all the flashings. Soldering has its place in some areas of our roofs. VM ZINC® DLSS panels have UL–1897 rating.
